Maureen was born in Quezon Province, Philippines. She departed her hometown in 1990 and migrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She married in 1995 and established residence in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She is a devoted wife to her very supportive husband – Richard, and a dedicated mother to their two adorable daughters – Abigail and Alyssa.
Maureen is a simple person who embodies the heart and soul of a true Filipina. She commits most of her off-work time in supporting several Filipino American organizations in Hampton Roads:
• Acclaimed as Philippine Cultural Center’s “Volunteer of the Year”.
• A passionate volunteer at the Philippine Cultural Center’s School of Creative and Performing Arts. She selflessly assists SCAPA performers at the following major events:
o “SCAPA Showcase” o “Cherry Blossom Festival” o “Philippine Week” o “Fil-Am Friendship” o “FilFest” o “Sister Cities Association of Virginia Beach” o “Feast of San Lorenzo”
• A proud colleague of the following Council of United Filipino Organizations of Tidewater (CUFOT) member organizations:
o Batangas Association of Hampton Roads o Philippine Nurses Association of Virginia o Filipino Women’s Club of Tidewater, Inc
• Attends inductions and contributes to fundraising events of various Filipino American organizations.
